Flowers Grow On Their Own
Porcelain, Cotton Rope, wire, 2022

I use raw white porcelain to sculpt forms and female figures, which acquire a light pink feminine hue after firing in the kiln. This natural state of the porcelain has its unique pure and vulnerable qualities. Though it may seem thin and fragile, it is very powerful and durable. For me, it expresses the female nature: delicate on the outside but strong on the inside. The cotton rope shows the connection to the forms, which take their own direction of growth.
